- Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Ministry of Civil aviation under the certification scheme for unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) has issued a gazette notification that the Batteries used in Unmanned aircraft such as drones are required to comply with the regulatory requirements of MeitY.
DRONE BATTERY PERFORMANCE TESTING such as energy, power capability, and life cycle to be evaluated to full fill the requirements of technical criteria.
- Drones are required to be evaluated for the level of protection against deterioration or loss of strength in operation due to any cause i.e., weathering, corrosion, and abrasion by subjecting the drones to an Environmental variation such as temperature and Humidity IS 9000 Part 2 & 3, IS 9000 Part 4 or IEC 60068–2–78 or equivalent standard based on the Manufacturers Test Plan.
- Drones are also required to be verified against the manufacturer’s declared IP code and test as per IEC 60529 Ingress protection test in an accredited Test Lab.
- REACT Compliance & Testing Laboratories hold the relevant accreditation to test the above requirements as per DGCA.
- Below Tests are covered for Batteries used in Drones
- CAPACITY TEST
- BATTERY HI-RATE DISCHARGE
- BATTERY ENDURANCE LIFE CYCLE
